
Writer, Vision
Jane Barr is a first-generation African American screenwriter from Tennessee whose parents are immigrants from Ghana. She earned her MFA in Film & Television from the Savannah College of Art & Design. Jane was chosen as an Essence/Women in Film Pathmaker 2021 and she was chosen as one of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation/Athena Film Festival Women in Science Development Fund winners for 2022. Jane’s project, Vision, was a second rounder at Sundance 2023 and a finalist for the TIFF Sloan Science and Technology Writer Fellowship 2024. Jane has concentrated her efforts on trying to better understand the world we live in while highlighting African & African American history to promote positive and lasting change.
