Jamil holds an MFA in Directing from Columbia University, as well as a BFA in Film from Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, where he received the Carol M. Schmuckler Award for Achievement in Filmmaking. His short KIKO won the Jack Larson Collaboration Award, as well as a grant from The Davey Foundation, and can currently be seen online via DUST.
