Synopsis
When Marianne, a rebellious chemistry student, is called home to her ancestral Bordeaux vineyard to care for her ailing father, she finds her dysfunctional family in disarray. Marianne embarks on a clandestine effort to save her family’s vineyard her own way, and make a statement in the process—through winning the regional wine championship with a lab-made wine. Her efforts quickly degrade into generational warfare—children are pitted against parents, tradition against modernization, the future against the past—and everyone ends up drinking a bit too much wine. What results is a modern-day French farce full of heart, a film that finds both the satire and the profound.
