Synopsis:

Based on a true story, Mileva Maric is a hardworking, ambitious woman who earns a spot at the Swiss Polytechnic as one of the only women at the school and the only woman in her program, studying mathematics and physics. There, she meets fellow student Albert Einstein. As their romance grows and their scientific pursuits entwine, Mileva makes certain sacrifices in order to build the life she wants with Albert.

Professional opportunities open up for Albert following the success of the 1905 Annus Mirabilis papers, but Mileva finds that she is being pushed out of her partnership with Albert. What she once thought was a shared dream for their future is ultimately unravelled by the sacrifices she made for it.

When the marriage falls apart, slowly and painfully, and with an incredibly messy divorce, Mileva has to decide what matters more to her – the credit she deserves on their shared scientific work, or being able to take care of her children.

Told non-linearly, the film’s structure draws inspiration from the science of time dilation and relativity to reflect Mileva’s struggle falling into, and pulling herself out of, the gravity of one of history’s great minds.
