
Writer/Director/Editor/Producer, Stranded
Raina Yang is a Chinese writer-director based in New York, currently pursuing her MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University. Her latest short film, supported by PictureNL and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, was shot in Newfoundland and explores themes of nature, loss, and memory. With a background in cognitive science and film from UC Berkeley, Raina’s work blends lyrical storytelling with scientific inquiry. A fellow at the Athena Writers Lab, she is developing her debut feature Transcender, a near-future sci-fi drama about digital consciousness and mortality. Her films have screened at AAIFF, New Faces New Voices, and NY Shorts.
