Asya Khmelova is a Ukrainian filmmaker based in the United States. She’s an alumna of NYU Tisch School of the Arts’ Graduate Film Program, where she was a TSOA Masters Film Future Fund Fellow and a Maurice Kanbar Scholar. Her films and screenplays have earned awards and recognition, including an honor from the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine “For Personal Contribution to the Development of Ukrainian Contemporary Art in Film and Television.”
Asya’s focus as a director is character-driven narratives and cross-genre storytelling. Her work is highly visual, with a strong emphasis on tone and aesthetics. Asya’s documentary background shaped her attention to detail and her sensibility as a director.
